The Family-Owned Business Hiisi Homes & Hotels from Vihti Takes Over Historic Hotel Seaport in Turku Harbour on April 7, 2025
The Vihti-based family business Hiisi Homes & Hotels began operating as a hotel operator at the historic Hotel Seaport in Turku Harbour on April 7, 2025. The new Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport digital hotel brings down-to-earth Finnish hospitality to the maritime heart of the city – without forgetting the old trading house atmosphere and a commitment to responsible modern accommodation.
A warehouse originally built in the 1900s as a trading house, the traditional full-service Hotel Seaport, and Hiisi Homes & Hotels known for its digitally enabled, effortless Finnish service – these are the ingredients of the new digital hotel: Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport.
The legendary Hotel Seaport in Turku Harbour is now operated by Hiisi Homes & Hotels, a Vihti-based family business founded in 2017. Known for its relaxed Finnish hospitality and rapid growth throughout its history, Hiisi Homes & Hotels officially opened the doors to Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport on April 7, 2025. The entrepreneurial spirit called for uninterrupted operations to ensure travelers – both business and leisure – would continue to have a reliable accommodation option in the harbour throughout the spring season.
Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport combines the legacy of a traditional hotel with Hiisi’s tech-driven service concept. The result is a cozy base for budget travelers in the developing Turku harbour area, located in close proximity to both the Viking Line and Silja Line terminals. The location is excellent – approximately 3.5 kilometers from Turku Market Square, with a bus stop right next to the hotel providing direct access to the city center and airport. Turku Harbour Railway Station offers direct train connections to Helsinki in just a couple of hours.
Hiisi Homes & Hotels CEO Niklas Eriksson states:
“As a family-owned company that emphasizes financial responsibility, it was self-evident for us to keep the hotel doors open without interruption. The previous entrepreneur cared for Hotel Seaport with love, giving us a great opportunity to jump aboard a moving ship – with no need for major renovations. A big thank you goes to the former Hotel Seaport team.”
Throughout April and May, the hotel will gradually be transformed to match the Hiisi Hotels concept. In addition to a contactless check-in experience, Hiisi Hotels are known for their home-like features such as resident laundry rooms and communal lounges. The goal is to have key code locks and a laundry room installed by early June, especially to serve guests staying for longer periods. The property will also emphasize self-service dining with vending machines for coffee, drinks, and snacks available in the shared guest lounge.
Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport is the choice for the responsible traveler.
Hiisi Homes & Hotels has completed both the Sustainable Travel Finland program and received the EcoCompass certificate. The historic Seaport building fits well into Hiisi’s portfolio, and the property’s energy efficiency has recently been improved by the installation of solar panels by the building’s owner.
With this addition, Hiisi Homes & Hotels has become one of the largest and most versatile accommodation providers in the Turku region. The offering includes nearly one hundred homely furnished apartments under the Hiisi Homes concept, and with the addition of Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport, 80 hotel rooms.
Markus Veikkolainen, Chief Commercial Officer of Hiisi Homes & Hotels, says:
“With Hiisi Hotel Turku Seaport, we now offer a complete service package for different types of accommodation needs in Turku. The hotel mainly serves short-term stays, while Hiisi Homes properties are geared toward stays of at least one month.”
In addition to Turku, Hiisi Hotels are also located in Lohja and Helsinki’s Jätkäsaari district. Hiisi Homes properties can be found in 15 locations across Southern Finland, ranging from Porvoo to Turku and from Helsinki to Nokia.
